Politicians are the problem-BALANCE THE BUDGET

I originally posted this back on April 2012. Amazing how nothing is really any different......

Why do we let them get away with it? Every day without fail, Obama or some other politician will make a statement as to things that are wrong that somehow they, the brilliant politicians, have a solution to. In Obamas case it is always to criticize successful people, blame big business, and talk about his solutions. And his solution is ALWAYS to add a commission or a department to oversee and regulate it. And our media lets him speak. But why? Isn’t Obama sitting on top of the most corrupt, dysfunctional, financially irresponsible entity the world has ever known? Wouldn’t most CEO’s be fired for the organization he takes credit for running? The fact that he is allowed to speak at all about anything simply shows how ignorant we all are as a society. Folks, our government spends $1.3 trillion more than it takes in every year while carrying a balance sheet showing a $15 trillion liability that it has no clue how it will pay back while borrowing each and every day another $3.5 billion while espousing about everything else that is wrong with America and all of the big businesses and fat cat capitalists that are so corrupt. Our government by their own definition is the most corrupt organization on the planet. If they had any guts, you would see Obama and our legislatures calling for a congressional hearing on THEMSELVES!!! But once again, we sit and watch like sheep while giving them all a “pass” to not do anything and try and blame a government gone wild on others. It is time to say STOP IT and BALANCE THE BUDGET. Just like every other business on the planet. The same ones our government criticizes. The same businesses that employ our citizens and can keep employing them by responsibly running their respective businesses, not borrowing too much, and staying profitable (that dirty democrat word). Intellectually we may all know that it doesn’t make sense. And how and where did this extra $1.3 trillion in spending come from? The single most important thing that government should do above everything else is balancing the budget. And not by taxing the life out of the few people that are actually paying taxes. Let’s have a fair tax plan where everyone has some skin in the game. And let’s order the politicians to stop spending more than they have. A Balanced Budget Amendment should be the first order of business. Make it LAW!!!! And then, here's a novel idea,  put the politicians in jail when they don’t comply with the LAW. Remember they are quick to throw the Enron’s and bankers in jail for their failings in business. Supposedly those CEO’s knew what they were doing and were not acting within their shareholders best interests or the public interest. Do you think that allowing our politicians a total “pass” to spend spend spend beyond what they have (and they know it) is any different????

Let’s be practical….make a Balanced Budget Amendment take full effect in say 5 years. But not 20 years. It needs to start now! Balancing the budget it the most important thing our government should be doing. I am certain that single act will also help to solve our economic problems. Getting the government out of our business (by cutting their interference out by requiring a balanced budget) will help the economy.

Simple but Stupid

Our politicians truly are incompetent and have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I continue to state that we have a 2 class system here in the US. The "ruling" class (politicians and government employees), and "everyone else". So we are going to be $1.3 some trillion negative this year and the politicians are at a constipated standstill (as always) with no constructive steps being taken at all to deal with it. And we find during election years, the whole inept political system gets to take the year off to do nothing to deal with important issues.

In the middle of all of this comes "Emancipation Day"... Most people don't even know what that Holiday is. But if you are located within the Beltway you do. Because it is another special day off for the Washington elite. A day off that no politician will ever touch. Emancipation Day marks the anniversary of when Lincoln announced that slavery was illegal on April 16, 1862. So somehow that became a national day of celebration that really only applies to DC. But here's the thing, our brilliant politicians decided that whenever Emancipation Day landed on a Monday, that our tax filing deadline would be extended to Tuesday. Most people don't object to extending the deadline for filing since a 2 day effective delay gives taxpayers another 2 days to come up with the money or earn additional income on their investments prior to being withdrawn to pay taxes. And for those that don't pay taxes (the majority), it doesn't really make any difference. But here's the thing and it may be small, but it certainly is simple...why not modify Emancipation Day by not making it a "day off" for DC employees and at the same time require taxpayers to pay their taxes on Monday the 16th? After all, 99% of the country is working anyway on Emancipation day (were you off?) and that one day of collecting taxes will reduce our national debt by $3.5 billion (crude calculation based on daily interest cost of our debt).

Eliminating Emancipation day as a DC holiday would do more than saving $3.5 billion. It would send a signal to everyone that the Washington elite get it and that they can in fact figure out ways to save even a little bit of our money (that effect them directly for once). So let me ask all fellow tax payers...would you be willing to pay your taxes on the 16th instead of the 17th in order to save $3.5 billion while also eliminating a DC elite day off? I know I would be happy (happy may not be the right word) to pay on the 15th because by then I have already prepared my taxes and prepared the payment. I may not like the tax code but I do file on time. I really think a 2 day tax Holiday is one thing that most people would say is unnecessary in this debt climate.

This DC day off that no one knows about is one of those politically touchy issues that no politician will talk about. But here's the thing. Obama could! He could have led in this case by declaring that in this economic climate, we simply cannot afford to give DC politicians and federal employees another day off. Of course we will celebrate Emancipation day....but not as a paid DC day off. There are lots of other memorial days like that throughout the year. We could even celebrate it on the weekend similar to say Mothers day. But Obama of all Presidents (for obvious reasons), could lead this small but symbolic change and save $3.5 billion. Small yes.., simple yes. But stupid that it doesn't even get mentioned. Because the ruling elite are just that.

Politicians espouse the way things should be for everyone else while never having any impact on themselves. Here would be an opportunity to get in line with the rest of America!

Obama claims credit for Oil Production increases????

Really??? Really? Does anyone with half a brain actually think that Obama has anything at all to do with increased oil production in the US? Of course not. Its Capitalism at work folks!. Think about it...oil is selling at $100 per barrel or thereabouts and your business is to produce oil. And your competition in the middle east simply has to turn up production. And every barrel that is purchased from the middle east, is one highly profitable barrel you could produce here in the US. Of course, you will apply as many places as possible to drill for more oil. The laws of capitalism make that happen. No the headlines should read the opposite..."Oil Production up since Obama took office IN SPITE of Obama". Proof positive that Capitalism works and the socialistic agenda of Obama and company does not work. The government energy policy does not exist. There is no policy. But in spite of that oil producers have ramped up their production. And instead of sending that money to Saudi Arabia, the approximately 10% increase in US production since Obama took office stays here. A drop in the bucket, but nevertheless the best that could be done given the largest roadblock to energy independence - OBAMA. Can you imagine what production and refining (and thereby gas prices) would be like if Obama actually had an energy policy which included among other things approving pipeline construction like Keystone? If we had leadership in this country, we would have an energy policy declaring energy independence by 2025 (or some date), with a plan to fullfill the goal, and guess what? Gas prices would be dropping today with the knowledge that we have a plan. That is what Obama could do right now.

Obama Apoligizes -- REALLY??, Really?

All red blooded Americans should be outraged at the recent apology by Obama to Karzai over the burning of the purported four defaced Korans. The fact that a President of the US gets down on his knees and apologizes for something that the media has totally once again missed the main issue on needs to anger us all. Here are the facts: The purported 4 Korans were already defaced as they were being used by insurgents to communicate while in detention. Please note defacing a Koran is against the religious principles of Islamists. But Karzai and all of the Afgan fanatics forget to note that minor issue. And when Afgans regularly Burn our American flag, no one seems to ask for an apology. But what really is outrageous is the fact that in the very country that we are defending, every day American soldiers are killed and in fact 2 have been killed as a result of this incident, yet NO APOLOGIES FROM KARZAI or any of the fanatical flag burning Afgans comes our direction. What was Obama thinking? OK so maybe an official apology is due but shouldn't it go something like this: "we are sorry for the inadvertent burning of a defaced Koran that was being used by insurgents trying to kill Americans and disrupt the freedom process we are fighting and dying for in your country. We will try not to let it happen again (no promises). In the meantime, we would appreciate an official apology from your country every time one of our soldiers is killed helping you free yourselves, and in general a monthly THANK YOU is expected for doing the things we do every day at great expense to every American taxpayer that you seem to despise. And by the way, if this Koran burning really is a greater problem than us paying for and dying for your freedom, perhaps you all need to rethink your priorities and at the same time we certainly will rethink ours. Oh, almost forgot: STOP BURNING OUR FLAG!!". The attached article in the Washington Post perhaps presents the issue with a little less emotion. I can tell you that ALL Americans should be outraged over this handling. And this is probably the best illustration of why Obama must go!!!!
